2012 Stinger Rules
No veteran drivers allowed in Singers.Meaning:If you have EVER driven an ANY class other than a Stinger/Compact/Beginners class,you ARE NOT eligible to race.
All drivers must have complete fire retardant race suit(jacket,pants,shoes,gloves),neckbrace or head/neck restraint,5-point harness and alumunum racing seal,no fiberglass seats. All cars MUST have a working fire extingusher within drivers reach.
All drivers must have RACEceivers.
Drivers must be at least 12 years of age to race. any driver under 18 years of age must have a minor's release on file.
All cars must have at least 18" numbers on both doors and roof(legible from passenger side.)
CAR/BODY
Any make /model front wheel drive,4-cylinder passenger vehicle. No all-wheel drives,unless rear drive shaft is removed.Cars must pull by the front wheels only.No two seaters,convertibles,trucks or mid-engine models allowed.May be 2 or 4 door hatchback sedan,station wagon,etc.Stock vin Plate must remain on vehicle and be legible in order to be decoded.
All of the following must be removed:glass,headlights and tail lights,mirrors (interior and exterior) interior upholstery and seats. Exterior chrome/trim and molding, antennas and insulation under hood. External engine parts may be removed,such as air compressor,power steering pump,etc.
Battery may be moved to a more secure location.
If in the driver's compartment,it must be enclosed in a marine style battery box.
Absolutely NO aftermarket parts,chips or computer modifications. Air box must be stock and in stock location.
Cars must have front and rear bumpers.Damaged body parts may be covered with sheet metal or plastic if orginal body remains underneath repaired areas.
No metal,whatsoever,is to be cut or hulled anywhere on the car. The only exception is for clearance of 3 doorbars on drivers side and roof. Front fenders can be cut only enough to clear tires,edges must be rolled under. No additional weight can be removed from car,no weight can be added to car.
No boxing in of the passenger compartment.Stock floor pan and front/rear firewall must remain in stock location.
Both trunk and hood hinges must be stock,in stock location and working to facilitate lifting the hood/trunk for inspection. You must have a minimum of 2 hood/trunk pins in order to hold hood/trunk down. No removal of hood and trunk reinforcements allowed.
Doors must be welded shut. Holes created by removing the head/tail lights must be covered by some type of sheet or expanded metal.
Factory rear spoilers are allowed. No aftermarket spoilers,ground effects and /or skirting. Minimum ground clearance 4 1/2 inches.
All springs/struts must be stock height,size and rote.OEM passenger shocks only. No air shocks or acing shocks. Stock bump stops on suspension.
All steering components must remain stock with exception of a steering wheel release.
Wheel base must be the same on both sides. Longer wheel studs are allowed and 1inch lug nuts are recommended. Stock wheels and DOT tires only. No racing tires. No recaps or retreads allowed. No wheel spacers allowed.
ENGINE
Engine must be stock for year/make /model of vehicle and in orginal OEM stock location with motor mounts. Engines must match VIN number plate.
No aftermarket parts allowed on car. No turbo or supercharged cars,no rotary engines. No NOS or other performance enhancing additives allowed.
Fuel injection or throttle bodies are allowed if they are original for that year/make/model as per VIN plate decoding. Must have factory exhaust manifold. Tail pipes must extend past drivers seat. Catalytic converters and mufflers may be removed. Pump gas only.
No modificatiions allowed to engines,must be factory in all aspects.
A/C compressors, smog pumps and other accessories with their belts may be removed.
Stock ignitions systems for year/make/model. No racing or performance enhancing units allowed. All cars must have working started,must be able to go in forward and reverse under its own power.
Radiators must be stock and in stock location. No racing radiators. No antifreeze or coolant exceept for bio-degradable coolant or water.
TRANSMISSION
Automatic or Manual transmission. Must be for year/make/model of car. Gears must be for year/make/model.
SAFETY
Minimum 4 point roll cage with 3 door bars on drivers side,parallel to the ground and equally spaced.2 bars from top of roll cage to rear of car. All tubing jmust be 1 1/2 inches diameter with minimum wall thickness of .083. Must be welded to the frame or unibody,may not be bolted. Low carbon mild steel,seamless tubing is recommended. No bars will extend outside of car.Drivers helmet must not extend past top of roll cage. Minimum of 3 bars in front of driver to protect against flying debris,added screen on the bars is recommended.
